Confessions of a Shopaholic
I promised myself I wasn’t gonna shop until the end of the month, but I couldn’t help it. The only thing I hate about working in retail is seeing new clothes. There’s just so many cute things, but I look at the price and all I could think of is thrift stores! The thrift store is about 5 minutes away from where I work which makes it really convenient for me to go and they get new shipments at least every day. On top of that, my girls enjoys thrifting, so it’s really hard to NOT shop. Plus, it’s really cheap!
2 weeks ago, I decided to go by myself after work. I just wanted to check out what the deal was for the week. Everything for 50% off and accessories were 75% off
I ended up buying:

Over sized Beige Sweater, Menswear, $2.58

Lace Blazer, $3.00 (When I first saw this, I just had to have it. We’re selling something pretty similar to this for about $30!)

Over sized Hunter Green Top, $2.71
A week later, I told the girls about what I got, they wanted to go and see if they had anything new. They did! So we came back and we all bought something, but I only bought 3 things because I keep buying stuff and I’m starting to get lazy cleaning them!

Over sized Navy Blue Sweater, Menswear, $2.85

Monochromatic Brown Stripped Sweater, Menswear, $2.25

Steve Madden Leopard Flats, $2.50
I thought I was gonna stop that day, but Rochelle and I were left alone so we decided why not thrift. We’ve been saving a lot of money lately and why not? hahah.
This trip was a really successful day with Rochelle. She and I found a lot of cute fall essential stuff!

Over sized Burnt Orange Cardigan, Menswear, $3.25 (I’ve been looking for a maroon/burnt orange cardigan, I was even considering buying one at H&M, but thank god for the thrift store!)

Stripped Button up, Menswear, $.50 (I wasn’t gonna buy this, It was just too big, but it’s one of those thrift finds that are just why not? So, I thought maybe I could wear it with a choker necklace and tuck it into one of my high waisted shorts.)

Off-white flats, $3.31 (They looked like they were never worn!)

Refuge Teal Jeans, $3.93 (I only got these for 40% off, but I love bright fall color jeans right now. Plus we sell Refuge Jeans at work for $20-35 and we get 40% discount there too, but I knew these were worth it!)
I’m scared to find out how much I spent, but my total thrifted cost is: $26.88. Okay, I’m not too disappointed, that’s probably how much ONE shirt cost at Forever 21, but I got all these things!
And since I got a gift card at a boutique, I decided to splurge on Faux Leather Shorts.

on sale for $10 (That’s probably a steal for some people, but it’s a splurge for me!)
*I know I bought a lot of chunky sweaters, but it’s because I have a faux leather pants that I haven’t worn since 2009, a faux leather skirt, and now I have a faux leather shorts. I just think faux leather would look nice with chunky sweaters.
Store Bought….Tailored
I love when guys dress like this! It’s what makes me love them! haha nothing is better than a man in a tailored suit, it’s amazing
Yeah, nothing’s less attractive than rocking the “I-just-rented-this-at-the-men’s-warehouse-during-the-2-for-1-promo” look. Dapper up, tailor your clothes.

But I ended up buying stuff

End of the month shopping spree
My new way to save money is to shop only at the end of the month. Most thrift stores have better sales at the end of the month and that’s when it’s worth it to shop.
My goal is to spend a little bit over/less than $30
I went to 4 thrift stores and the mall.

Miss Independent
That song was a disease that spread amongst preteen girls who thought they were independent yet lived under allowance money. Throughout the years, I’ve struggled with that term because that’s who I wanted to be, miss independent working for her thrown. Neva needing a [wo]man cause she got her own - type of ambition. Financially, I still depend on my mother and I am not afraid to admit that. But a woman who can pay her own bills and stays on her own grind, but cannot handle standing on her own two feet is just a working woman. Girl, the cash does not substitute for your inability to invest in solitude. I want to be a strong woman, independently hustlin’ my daily struggles, handlin’ my own emotional baggage and mental breakdowns. And one day, I’ll be on my grind makin’ what I need to provide for the lifestyle that I want. That kind of woman.
